The University of Iowa School of Music will present a concert by the Latin Jazz Ensemble, with special guests from the UI Afro-Cuban Drum and Dance Ensemble, at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 21, in Riverside Recital Hall on the UI campus.

J.C. Hallman, alumnus of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, will read from "Wm & H’ry: Literature, Love, and the Letters Between William and Henry James," at 7 p.m. Monday, April 22, in a free reading at Prairie Lights Books in downtown Iowa City. The reading also will be streamed live on the University of Iowa Writing University website.

The Center for New Music Ensemble, featuring guest composer Hans Tutschku of Harvard University, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21, in Riverside Recital Hall on the UI campus. The program will feature three compositions by Tutschku, along with works by Bert Van Herck (visiting assistant professor in the UI School of Music) and Gérard Grisey.

The University of Iowa Museum of Natural History begins its spring “Storytime Adventures” series on Sunday, April 21, at 3 p.m. Join us on the third Sunday of each month as we explore animals and the environment in Iowa and around the world.

The University of Iowa Center for New Music will present a free solo violin recital by Kia-Hui Tan at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, in the University Capitol Centre Recital Hall. The program will consist of winning works from the 2013 KH Tan Composition Competition for Solo Violin Works: Asian Inspirations.

Alexandra Chasin will read from her books "Brief" and "Kissed By" at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 14, in a free reading at Prairie Lights Books in downtown Iowa City. The reading also will be streamed live on the University of Iowa Writing University website. A screening of "Composer and I," a 22-minute film by Chasin and Cathy Lee Crane, will follow the reading.

UI student organization Walk It Out presents the fourth annual Walk It Out Multicultural Fashion Show, Saturday, April 13, in the Iowa Memorial Union Main Lounge. Proceeds benefit AIDS education.
