Pulitzer Prize–winning author Elizabeth Strout will read from her new novel, "The Burgess Boys," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, in a free reading at the Iowa City Public Library in downtown Iowa City.

The University of Iowa Old Capitol Museum will host a Piano Sundays concert at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 7, in the Senate Chamber. This free, public concert marks the last of the Piano Sundays 2012-2013 series. UI Professor Rene Lecuona will perform select pieces and will be joined by four of her students.

The University of Iowa School of Music will present a free performance by the choral ensemble Camerata, conducted by David Puderbaugh, assistant director of choral activities, at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 7, in the Second Floor Ballroom of the Iowa Memorial Union. The program will include select works by Mozart, Felix Mendelssohn, Ester Mägi, Kirke Mechem, and Antonio Caldara.

Vivian Gornick, who wrote for many years at the "Village Voice," will read from her work at 7 p.m. Monday, April 8, in a free reading at Prairie Lights Books in downtown Iowa City. The reading also will be streamed live on the University of Iowa Writing University website.

Artist illness prompts cancellation of Hughes workshop, performance

UI Theatre is sorry to announce that the Holly Hughes Gay Marriage Performance Workshop (April 2-5) and the Holly Hughes performance (April 6) have been cancelled due to the artist’s illness. UI Theatre plans to reschedule the workshop and performance during the 2013-2014 season.
