UI Museum of Art breaks participation record

The University of Iowa Museum of Art (UIMA) set an all-time museum record for for participation and attendance at events during the 2013-14 academic year. The UIMA drew 538,260 people, significantly surpassing the previous historical record of 146,470 for 2012-13.
UI recognized for community commitment

The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching selected the UI to receive its 2015 Community Engagement Classification, based on the university's commitment and involvement to the community. The UI has been designated for the first time, and joins 239 other higher-education institutions across the nation for this year’s honor.

A newly published study involving the University of Iowa finds crows have the brainpower to solve higher-order, relational-matching tasks, and they can do so spontaneously. That means crows join humans, apes, and monkeys in exhibiting advanced relational thinking, according to the research. Results appear in the journal Current Biology.
