UI researcher to study emotional, social recovery of injured children

Marizen Ramirez, University of Iowa associate professor of occupational and environmental health, has been approved for an estimated funding award of $1.7 million by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute to study how parents can help their children recover emotionally and socially from traumatic injuries.

UI researchers develop probe to find staph infections

UI assistant professor of internal medicine James McNamara and colleagues have developed a probe that can detect an enzyme given off by the staph bacteria, allowing doctors to find staph infections in 90 minutes rather than waiting up to 24 hours for lab analysis.
