The University of Iowa 24/7 Support and Crisis Line is now available to faculty, staff, and postdocs as part of the university’s ongoing effort to prioritize the mental health and well-being of employees. The 24-hour crisis line has been available to students since fall 2021.

Stresses strengthen disease-causing yeast

University of Iowa biologists have found that a yeast species that can be hazardous to human health can become more resistant when exposed to a prior, mild stress. The researchers also learned this trait does not exist in a close relative, brewer’s or baker’s yeast.
