On Dec. 19—22, more than 1,700 University of Iowa students will receive their degrees during in-person and livestreamed commencement ceremonies, beginning with the College of Education’s undergraduate and Teacher Education Program recognition Dec. 19 and concluding with the College of Engineering, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and University College ceremonies on Dec. 22.
New roundabout along Newton Road to open week of Dec. 16

Construction of a new roundabout along Newton Road is nearly complete and will open the week of Dec. 16, barring any unforeseen complications. Only minor landscaping in the center of the roundabout remains.

Barrett W. Thomas named associate provost for faculty and strategic operations

Barrett (Barry) W. Thomas has been named the next associate provost for faculty and strategic operations in the University of Iowa Office of the Provost. Thomas, the senior associate dean and Gary C. Fethke Research Professor in Business Analytics in the Tippie College of Business, will begin a part-time appointment in January 2025, transitioning to full-time on July 1, 2025.
