Some 280 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa were named to the President's List for the 2012 spring semester. The President's List recognizes academic excellence. A student must have a minimum 4.0 grade point average in all academic subjects for the preceding two semesters, with a total of at least 12 semester hours of credit during that period, to qualify.

University of Iowa researchers and their colleagues have developed a new technique to evaluate how aerosol pollutants affect clouds, thereby giving scientists the ability to examine clouds and determine particle concentrations in the atmosphere below. The technique will aid fields such as air quality monitoring, weather forecasting, and climate projection.
