Three professors in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Department of Biology have been honored by the National Academy of Sciences for their work at the 2013 National Academies Northstar Summer Institute on Undergraduate Education in Biology held during July at the University of Minnesota.

A study by University of Iowa researchers found that patients who received mailed educational information about colon cancer screening plus a testing kit they could use at home were more than three times as likely to get screened for the disease as patients who received usual medical care.

The reading also will be streamed live on the University of Iowa Writing University website.
