Theisen, who served as the interim director of opera at the University of Iowa in 1998 and continued that relationship for the past 15 years, is now the full-time director of opera in the UI School of Music.

Before Mason Shepherd was born, his mother, Cindy, went in for her 20-week ultrasound where doctors discovered that her son had stopped growing. The Shepherds were transferred to UI Children’s Hospital for genetic testing, and Mason was diagnosed with Russell-Silver syndrome, a disorder characterized by slow growth before and after birth.

UI Theatre producing new adaptation of 'Imaginary Invalid'

The University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts will produce a new adaptation of Molière’s "The Imaginary Invalid" that will include new music and choreography from members of the artistic team. The production will open at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, in the David Thayer Theatre of the UI Theatre Building.
