Old Capitol exhibit chronicles Iowan's historic sailing voyages

Iowa native David Thoreson will open his photographic exhibit at the UI's Old Capitol Museum during a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23. His exhibit, “The Northwest Passage and Oceans Beyond: An Iowan Sails into History,” will be on display Jan. 23 through May 25.

Jen Percy to read from debut Jan. 23

Jen Percy, a graduate of the University of Iowa Nonfiction Writing Program and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, will read from her debut, "Demon Camp: A Soldier's Exorcism," at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, in a free reading at Prairie Lights Books in downtown Iowa City.

ABC-TV cancels pilot safety story originally slated for Jan. 17

UI program empowers women to take on leadership roles

Every spring, the UI Women's Resource and Action Center offers an intensive, five-day institute that educates college women about the political process and teaches them effective leadership skills. Students of all majors are encouraged to apply; the deadline is Feb. 20.
