Monday, February 10, 2014

The University of Iowa Museum of Natural History invites you to come out of the cold and come along for a different kind of snowy adventure as it presents The Amazing Adventures of Willy the Woolly, performed by Eulenspiegel Puppets at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15.

A black and white drawing of a wooly mammoth with a rabbit on its back and two evergreen trees

The story begins in a museum, where Cornelia and her Aunt Tessa see a cave drawing of a baby woolly mammoth and a saber-tooth cat. Cornelia has her toy mammoth, Willy, and her toy bunny, Bonny, with her. While Cornelia and Aunt Tessa turn their backs, Willy and Bonny come to life and go back to the Ice Age. Cornelia follows and the adventure begins.

The production features tabletop marionettes, rod puppets, shadow puppets, original live music, and an interactive demonstration at the end. The show is geared toward children in second through fifth grades.
