The 13th Annual Iowa Organic Conference, scheduled for Nov. 17-18, will once again bring national experts, the latest in organic agriculture production research, and the voices of local experience together on the University of Iowa campus.

Student leaders will welcome Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds to the University of Iowa campus Thursday, Oct. 24 to tour the Bedell Entrepreneurship Learning Laboratory and the UI College of Pharmacy.

What would it take for you to be famous in your field? This and other questions will be probed as Dean Keith Simonton, an Ida Beam Distinguished Visiting Professor, explores the development of eminence, creativity, genius, and leadership. Simonton will visit the UI campus Oct. 30 through Nov. 1.

Come celebrate “The Woven Life” at the next University of Iowa Museum of Art (UIMA) First Friday on Friday, Nov. 1, from 5-7 p.m. at hotelVetro. The event features the work of local weaver Jan Friedman as well as live music by The Main Sequence.

Chicago business leader, world traveler, and University of Iowa alumnus Andrew Code will return to the UI campus Thursday, Oct. 24 to reflect on leadership, faith, and putting love into action through business or whatever one’s work may be.

Brad Buck, the new director of the Iowa Department of Education, will speak about “priorities and initiatives” at the University of Iowa College of Education Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Teacher Leader Center, 140 Lindquist Center North on the UI campus.

Iowa Cello Daze, an annual celebration for performers and fans of the violoncello, will be hosted by the University of Iowa School of Music Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 26-27. All the Daze events are free and open to the public.

The University of Iowa School of Music will present “Jazz That Moves,” a performance featuring the UI World Beat Ensemble and the UI Latin Jazz Ensemble, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in The Mill in downtown Iowa City.

For more than 30 years, the University of Iowa's Dance Gala has wowed audiences by showcasing some of the best choreography and dance from one of the most highly acclaimed dance programs in the country. Don't miss the program, which runs through Oct. 26.

The University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts will present a Gallery Production, "thisisnotaWarPlay | thisisaWarPlay," written by Micah Ariel James and directed by Joshua Raheim, at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 24-26, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, in Theatre B of the UI Theatre Building.

The University of Iowa School of Music will present a free recital by the Clarinet Studio at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in the University Capitol Centre on the UI campus.
