Today, University of Iowa's Dance Marathon marks its 20th anniversary of helping fund pediatric cancer research at the UI Carver College of Medicine and providing programs for patients and their families at UI Children's Hospital. Ingo Titze, an authority on voice and speech, and fellow UI researchers found that except under unrealistic controlled circumstances, voice votes are useless: "The vote is very, very biased toward loud voices...soft voices are like no voices in a vote."

Six undergraduate playwrights will have their plays brought to life at the University of Iowa Ten Minute Play Festival. The festival, presented by the Department of Theatre Arts, will hold its first performances at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, in Theatre B of the UI Theatre Building. Additional shows will be held Feb. 14-16.
