The week of Sept. 7-13 is National Suicide Prevention Week. It is important to reflect on suicide, its prevalence, risk factors, what to do if concerned about someone, and where to get help, according to John Westefeld, a suicidologist and UI College of Education professor.

Bruce Harreld, a former Harvard Business School faculty member and corporate executive who helped save a foundering IBM in the 1990s, will become the 21st president of the University of Iowa. The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, announced Harreld, 64, as its unanimous selection to replace Sally Mason.
