Parker receives $2.1 million grant to study the cerebellum and its role in cognitive function

Assistant Professor of Psychiatry Krystal Parker received a five-year, $2.1 million grant from the National Institute of Mental Health to continue exploring the idea that the cerebellum may play a key role in cognitive function and may be targeted in diseases such as schizophrenia, autism, bipolar disorder, and Parkinson’s disease.
Grant to help UI train Iowa teachers in STEM innovation, entrepreneurialism

A $285,000 grant from the Iowa Governor’s STEM Council will help the University of Iowa expand its STEM Innovator program, which encourages Iowa middle and high school students to become entrepreneurs or consider careers in innovative STEM fields.

The missions, called, Twin Rockets to Investigate Cusp Electrodynamics, or TRICE-2, launched earlier this month. They're exploring magnetic reconnection, the explosive process that allows charged particles from space to stream into Earth’s atmosphere.
