The University of Iowa will break ground on a new 12,000-square foot home for its part-time M.B.A. program, strengthening a relationship with the community that's lasted 50 years.

A partnership between the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, will offer support for arts projects that uniquely address civic challenges and community issues through the arts.

Hancher will present Inti-Illimani, a folk music ensemble from Chile, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, on the Iowa City pedestrian mall, next to the Sheraton Hotel. The free performance will kick off the Summer of the Arts Friday Night Concert Series.

Students in the university's part-time M.B.A. program in Des Moines develop marketing plans to help Central Iowa entrepreneurs, including a restaurant owner and UI graduate who still keeps in touch with his undergraduate marketing instructor.

The annual White Coat Ceremony closes the first year of dental school for students and marks their transition to additional patient care responsibilities during year two. Students will be ceremonially cloaked with their first white laboratory coats and will recite the Oath of a Dentist.

University of Iowa researchers Matthew Rysavy, a senior medical student, and Edward Bell, professor of pediatrics in the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics, studied the cases of nearly 5,000 infants born before 27 weeks gestation at 24 academic hospitals participating in the Neonatal Research Network between 2006 and 2011.

The University of Iowa’s Heart and Vascular Center and Iowa City Heart Center, announced Friday, May 1, that they have joined to become the most comprehensive cardiovascular program in the state.

A bill researched and drafted by a second-year student at the UI College of Law was signed into law by Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad last week. The bill, Senate File 306, is an act relating to communication and visitation between an adult ward and another person.

UI orthopedic researchers are developing an injectable, bioactive gel that encourages self-healing of cartilage. If they are successful, the gel could represent a minimally invasive, practical, and inexpensive approach for repairing damaged cartilage and preventing osteoarthritis.

William “Bill” R. Nelson is the recipient of the 2015 Lola Lopes Award for Undergraduate Student Advocacy. Nelson, director of the Iowa Memorial Union and the UI Center for Student Involvement and Leadership, is well known as an energetic champion for developing student leadership experiences on campus.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month comes to a close Thursday, April 30, with "Take Back the Night," a rally and march that also gives voice to survivors of sex-related crimes.
