UI Parking and Transportation has created a public parking dashboard to help you find available parking in campus facilities. The dashboard refreshes every 15 seconds to provide real-time parking availability and includes links to facility information.

The bright blue sky we’re accustomed to seeing over the Old Capitol dome recently has been disguised by a smoky haze from wildfires in Canada. The smoke has resulted in an air quality advisory issued for eastern Iowa and other parts of the state, disrupting some outdoor activities and putting people with certain health conditions on alert.

The University of Iowa is in the beginning stages of planning for the Department of Dance to vacate aging Halsey Hall and relocate to the Performing Arts Annex, the renamed former art museum that sits among other arts buildings on the west side of the Iowa River.

The Iowa City Pride celebration took place Saturday, June 17, in downtown Iowa City. Thousands of people, including many members of the University of Iowa community, took part. Events included a parade, music, food, art, and vendor booths.

Following another year of flat state funding, the Board of Regents, state of Iowa, approved a tuition increase for University of Iowa students to address higher inflationary costs. At its June 14 meeting, the board approved a $305 increase to undergraduate tuition and a $381 increase to graduate tuition.

The University of Iowa is asking the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, to bolster the appeal of the UI Research Park to biotech and medical research firms by allowing more flexible terms for securing land on which they build.

The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, will consider approval of the project description and budget for the University of Iowa’s proposed new Health Sciences Academic Building when it meets June 13—14 in Iowa City. If approved, the new six-level building would be built south of Slater Residence Hall and west of Grand Avenue Court, adjacent to the Gerdin Athletic Learning Center.

Ann F. McKenna, vice dean of strategic advancement at the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University and professor of engineering in the Polytechnic School, has been named dean of the University of Iowa College of Engineering.

Beth Goetz has been named the University of Iowa’s interim director of athletics, effective Aug. 1.

Gary Barta, the Henry B. and Patricia B. Tippie Director of Athletics Chair at the University of Iowa, will retire Aug. 1 after 17 years as athletics director.
