Members of the media are invited to the 39th annual meeting of the American Regions Mathematics League, described as the "World Series of mathematics competitions," taking place simultaneously on the University of Iowa campus and three other locations around the country, Friday and Saturday. The UI's Iowa Consortium for Substance Abuse Research and Evaluation reviewed gambling attitudes and behaviors among Iowa youth and found higher rates of alcohol use, binge drinking, tobacco use, drug use, and thoughts of suicide among adolescents as the frequency of gambling increased.
