Baseball-Reference.com, the definitive online guide for baseball statistics, started out as a project that CEO Sean Forman worked on in his spare time while finishing his doctorate in mathematics at the University of Iowa. Tolerated by his non-baseball-fan advisor, the site is now Forman’s fulltime job.

Iowa City resident Ted Pacha and his wife, Deb, have made a $5 million leadership gift to the Kinnick Edge Campaign, which will help with renovations to the north end zone at Kinnick Stadium.

White Sox draft pick Blake Hickman uses injury time to get his UI degree

Blake Hickman took advantage of a lengthy absence from baseball by going back to school. Hickman graduated from the University of Iowa on Saturday with a degree in sports studies, almost two years after he left the school to sign a professional baseball contract with the White Sox.
