Montserrat Fuentes named UI executive vice president and provost

Montserrat (Montse) Fuentes, dean and professor in the College of Humanities & Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, has been named the University of Iowa’s new executive vice president and provost. She will begin on June 28.

Tolbert recognized as among most cited in her field

UI Political Science Professor Caroline Tolbert was recognized as one of the 400 most-cited political science faculty members in the country in the PS: Political Science article, "The Political Science 400: With Citation Counts by Cohort, Gender, and Subfield."

College of Liberal Arts and Sciences names Collegiate Teaching Award winners

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has named six recipients of the Collegiate Teaching Award for 2018-2019.

UI Computer Science faculty named NSF CAREER award winner

Tianbao Yang, assistant professor in the UI Department of Computer Science, won an NSF CAREER award. The five-year, $529,000 award will fund research to advance machine learning with complex objectives and constraints by designing and analyzing efficient and effective optimization algorithms for addressing computational challenges in new machine learning paradigms.
