Created in response to the floods that ravaged Iowa City and eastern Iowa in 2008, the Iowa Flood Center at the University of Iowa set out to better predict flooding. Part of their work included creating an interactive inundation map for the city of Ames.
College of Education expert talks about Advanced Placement exams

Kristin Flanary , who oversees the Iowa Online AP Academy at the College of Education’s Belin-Blank Center, recently weighed in on elite prep schools that are doing away with Advanced Placement courses. Flanary says that in Iowa, the courses are still the best option for challenging gifted and talented students.
UI receives $1 million water quality grant

The University of Iowa is leading a $1 million federal grant to gather and share water quality information from five states along the Upper Mississippi River. Iowa State University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will also take part in the three-year National Science Foundation big data program.
