Hawkeye pride helped push the University of Iowa social media channels into the top spot for social media engagement in higher education for a second consecutive year. This was also the third year in a row that Iowa has placed in the top three nationwide.

President Harreld announces plan for retirement

University of Iowa President Bruce Harreld has asked the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, to begin a search for the UI’s next president. Harreld, whose contract runs through June 2023, has informed the board of his desire to retire as soon as a successor can be appointed.

A group led by Sara E. Mason at the University of Iowa has obtained renewed funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation to study the environmental safety and human health effect of nanomaterials. Mason’s group is part of a national consortium called the Center for Sustainable Nanotechnology.
