UI Theatre holds Nov. 10-15 auditions for spring 2013 productions

The University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts will hold open auditions Nov. 10-15 for more than 75 roles in 10 spring productions. General auditions will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, and from 6 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. Callbacks will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, Nov. 12-15.

University of Iowa alumna Ethel Kjaer Barker, an author and a retired reading educator in Iowa City, will read from "For the Love of Pete" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in a free reading at Prairie Lights Books in downtown Iowa City. The reading also will be streamed live on the University of Iowa Writing University website.

Duncan Sheik, the musical mastermind behind the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical "Spring Awakening," will be speaking in Iowa City at the University of Iowa Theatre Building from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15. Sheik’s visit coincides with the UI Theatres Mainstage production of "Spring Awakening," which runs Nov 9-17.
