The University of Iowa Department of Public Safety will test the Hawk Alert emergency notification system at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19 as required by federal law. Subscribers can manage the methods by which they receive Hawk Alerts and are strongly encouraged to check and update their preferences ahead of the test.

A new UI study shows that police officers move as much on the job as someone holding a baby or washing dishes. The finding comes from police wearing armbands that monitored their physical activity. Results appear in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
