Julene Bair to read from memoir March 13

University of Iowa Nonfiction Writing Program and Writers’ Workshop graduate Julene Bair will read from her ecological memoir of the high plains, "The Ogallala Road," at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 13, in a free reading at Prairie Lights Books in downtown Iowa City. The reading also will be streamed live on the University of Iowa Writing University website.

Cancer in Iowa

The latest annual report on cancer in Iowa estimates 17,400 new cancers will be diagnosed among Iowa residents in 2014. In addition, an estimated 6,400 Iowans will die from cancer, according to the “Cancer in Iowa: 2014” report released today by the State Health Registry of Iowa, based in the University of Iowa College of Public Health.

Clarinet Studio to give recital March 11
