In a special event co-sponsored by the Mission Creek Festival, University of Iowa professor Kembrew McLeod and Brooklyn fiction writer D. Foy will read from their new books at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, in a free reading at Prairie Lights Books in downtown Iowa City. The reading also will be streamed live on the University of Iowa Writing University website.

Researchers found that patients who suffered ventromedial prefrontal cortex damage early in life, unlike patients in whom the brain injury occurred during adulthood, endorsed significantly more self-serving judgments that broke moral rules or inflicted harm on others.

Of the 30 stations that were part of the Cedar Rapids Science Center’s Brain Awareness Week, seven were created and facilitated by UI College of Education students from clinical instructor Ted Neal’s science education classes. School groups came to the Science Center to walk through rooms full of different interactive educational stations about the brain.
