University of Iowa Staff Council’s service-recognition program acknowledges all professional and scientific and merit staff who have reached 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, or 50 years of continuous service. Winners receive a certificate and letter of appreciation from the Office of the President.

UI alum James Hatch, archivist of black theater, dies at 91

James V. Hatch, a historian of black theater who, with his wife, the artist and filmmaker Camille Billops, created a vast archive of interviews with black actors, singers, writers and artists, died on Feb. 14 in Manhattan. He was 91.

Like everything else, Match Day is different this year

UI utilities employees transitioning to ENGIE

In December 2019, the UI received approval from the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, to enter into the P3 involving its utility system with ENGIE North America and Meridiam. ENGIE is now working with the university to ensure a seamless transition for current UI utility system employees.

Study homes in on possible cause of sudden cardiac deaths

By studying the sick hearts removed from four patients undergoing heart transplants, researchers have identified a protein and a signaling pathway that may contribute to sudden death in an inherited form of heart disease.
