Iowa Law Antiracism Committee Works Toward a Bold Plan for Action

In the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd, the College of Law moved to action and formed an Anti-Racism Action Committee made up of faculty, staff and students. The committee met for the first time on June 19, 2020, and met weekly through the summer, submitting its final report on Aug. 21.

Stephen G. Bloom wins national Distinguished Teaching in Journalism Award

The Society of Professional Journalists has named Stephen Bloom, professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, the recipient of its coveted Distinguished Teaching in Journalism Award. New research from the University of Iowa shows parents who teach children ahead of time how to properly choose gaps in traffic can help them learn more quickly how to cross roads safely. The study found that timely instruction from parents led to improvements in children’s road-crossing abilities.
