Today, the honor roll occupies not only a prominent place in the Hubbard Commons; it also has a new home online.

Hawkeyes flocked to the nation’s capital this week to take part in the second Hawkeye Caucus in Washington, D.C. The event, held Wednesday, Nov. 13, gave University of Iowa President Sally Mason, deans, student leaders, and even Herky a chance to meet with congressional representatives and alumni and showcase the best the UI has to offer Iowa and the nation.

Divers installed new flashboards on top of the Iowa River Burlington Street dam earlier this week. The flashboards raise the level of the dam slightly, which provides for a slightly higher water level for the water plant intake. Based on duck behavior, it appears as though the new flashboards make catching dinner just a little bit easier as well.

Typhoon Haiyan’s trail of destruction in the Philippines last weekend is drawing attention to the difficulty of providing relief services in a place where roads, ports, and airports are all but destroyed. A UI researcher works to find more efficient methods for governments, agencies, NGOs, and businesses to transport relief supplies to disaster areas.
