As part of its ongoing education and awareness efforts, the UI Information Security & Policy Office is reminding the campus to always be vigilant of “phishing” attacks—scams that use emails or phone calls to solicit personal or confidential information that the scammer uses illicitly.
Fourth finalist named for director of public safety position

On Wednesday, May 11, the UI announced the fourth candidate for the position of assistant vice president and director of public safety. Scott Beckner, director of public safety at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Georgia, will visit campus May 12 and 13.

University of Iowa chemists have learned about a molecular assembly that may help create quicker, more responsive touch screens, among other applications. The researchers report the interfacial layer—when molecules interact with a surface—of electrically charged fluids called ionic liquids is thicker than previously known.
