The University of Iowa has expanded Two-Step Login to web-based applications, including MAUI, ICON, and MyUI, and campus cyber-security experts advise all UI faculty, staff, and students to enable the feature for these applications.

UI study explores why cell phone use leads to distracted driving

Even simple cell phone conversations can cause distracted driving. Researchers have found listening on the phone while driving creates a lag in the mind as it extracts itself from one task before fixing attention on another.

Committee named to begin external review process

Writers’ Workshop alumnus Denis Johnson, author of ‘Jesus’ Son,’ dead at 67

Denis Johnson, the prize-winning fiction writer, poet, and playwright best known for his transcendent story collection Jesus’ Son, has died at 67. He was a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and studied under Raymond Carver, whose raw accounts of addiction and recovery would be echoed in Johnson’s work.
