Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD) Art Museum Day is Saturday, May 18. To celebrate, the University of Iowa Museum of Art is offering free admission at its temporary locations on that date, including the Figge Art Museum in Davenport.

Hancher to present free Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience concert

The University of Iowa’s Hancher will present Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience on Friday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Iowa City Pedestrian Mall, next to the Sheraton Hotel. The concert will kick off the 2013 edition of the Summer of the Arts Friday Night Concert Series.

ArtsFest, held Friday in the University of Iowa's Studio Arts Building, was a free, interactive art experience presented by graduate and undergraduate students in the UI School of Art and Art History that featured artwork by the students, as well as demonstrations and hands–on opportunities in studio art and art history.

Guest artists to join Agrell for May 11 concert

The University of Iowa School of Music will present a faculty recital by Jeffrey Agrell, associate professor of horn, at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 11, in the University Capitol Centre Recital Hall in downtown Iowa City. Agrell will be joined by guest artists Matt Smart (piano), William Koehler (bass), and Sean Connors (percussion). The recital is free and the public is welcome.

Horn Studio students to perform recital May 7

The University of Iowa School of Music will present a free recital by Horn Studio students, led by UI faculty member Jeffrey Agrell, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, in the University Capitol Centre Recital Hall in downtown Iowa City. This concert will feature each member of the studio playing one work; several pieces were composed by the students.
