Iowa City's New Horizons Band celebrates 20 years

Iowa City’s New Horizons Band is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The band, a joint effort between the Iowa City community and the University of Iowa College of Education, provides adults ages 55 and older the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and play in a band or ensemble.

More than 300 middle school students, primarily from Eastern Iowa, were in Coralville in mid November to participate in the 18th annual University of Iowa International Day for Human Rights. This year students learned about “The Human Right to a Clean Environment.”
