Gear up for the holidays with the musical holiday delight Striking 12, produced by the University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts. This production is on stage at 8 p.m. Dec. 5-6 and Dec. 10-13 and at 2 p.m. Dec. 7 in the Mabie Theatre at the UI Theatre Building (200 N. Riverside Drive, Iowa City).

Striking 12, directed by UI theatre arts professor/head of acting John Cameron, is a funny, musical look at the meaning of life. The hectic existence of a modern New Yorker is forever changed by the quirky retelling of the classic story The Little Match Girl. Filled with exquisite music, Striking 12 challenges our ideas about what’s really important and gives us all a chance to laugh at ourselves and enjoy the reason for the season.

Tickets are $18 ($12 for seniors, $10 for college students and youth, $5 for UI students with valid UI ID) and are available through the Hancher Box Office.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UI-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, contact the Hancher Box Office in advance at 319-335-1158.

The Department of Theatre Arts is part of the Division of Performing Arts in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
