She transferred because it was more convenient to attend class at UI while she underwent chemotherapy treatments for breast cancer in Iowa City, following a double mastectomy.

UI Health Care makes the switch from pagers to iPhones

UI Health Care has started handing out the iPhone 4S, which will eventually replace pagers. The transition began more than a year ago, with about 65 phones. That number has since grown to 1,500 and may reach 2,000 when everything is said and done.

College of Dentistry lands $1.6 million federal grant

The College of Dentistry at the University of Iowa has been awarded a $1.6 million federal grant to operate a dentist-scientist training program. The program, run by dentistry professor Christopher Squier, has been funded continuously since 1985.

The two chosen are Meenakshi Gigi Durham, professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and Thomas Scholz, a doctor and pediatrics professor in the Carver College of Medicine.
