University of Iowa Student Health and Wellness (SHW) has achieved another three year accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).

Accreditation recognizes outpatient facilities that provide the highest quality patient care as determined by an independent, external evaluation process. Almost 5,000 ambulatory health care organizations across the country are accredited by AAAHC. Not all ambulatory health care organizations seek accreditation, and not all undergoing the on-site survey are granted accreditation.
“We believe our students deserve the best,” says Jim Kellogg, director of Student Health and Wellness. "When you see our certificate of accreditation, you know that the AAAHC—an independent, not-for-profit organization—has closely examined our facility and procedures. It means we care enough about our students to strive for the highest care possible.”
Ambulatory health care organizations seeking accreditation by the AAAHC undergo an extensive self-assessment and on-site survey by the AAAHC expert surveyors—volunteer physicians, nurses, and administrators actively involved in ambulatory health care. The survey is consultative and educational, presenting best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.
UI Student Health and Wellness began serving UI students in 1919. SHW physicians and physician assistants provide a wide range of primary care services, gynecology, and psychiatry. The Student Wellness division provides one-on–one, group, and campus community health promotion and education services.
Located on the west side of campus in Westlawn, the clinic is open all year, Monday through Friday, except university holidays. Find more information on the Student Health and Wellness website, or call 319-335-8370.
