Media Advisory: College of Education students to receive free iPads Sept. 27

Members of the media are invited to the UI College of Education’s Teacher Leader Center Friday, Sept. 27, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. for a ceremony where all newly-admitted undergraduate and master's teacher education students will receive free iPads thanks to a donation from alumna Linda Baker.

Robin Sloan to give free reading Oct. 2

Robin Sloan will read from his novel "Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore," at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in a free reading at Prairie Lights Books in downtown Iowa City. The reading also will be streamed live on the University of Iowa Writing University website.

Work on new, old Hancher facilities begins in earnest Monday

Monday will be a big day in the life of the new—and the old—Hancher facilities. Weather permitting, construction crews working on the new Hancher facility will initiate the project’s single-largest concrete pour around 6 a.m. Monday: 1,400 cubic feet in a single day, to be exact. And around 9 a.m., a wrecking ball will begin dismantling the original Hancher Auditorium.
