A New York Times story about Sam Falk, a Times staff photographer of more than four decades, included a Falk’s photo of the 1952 Iowa Homecoming game against the Ohio State University (an Iowa victory).

Six University of Iowa alumni and faculty who served their country will be honored in a ceremony at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union.

As part of the Iowa City Area Transit Study, open houses will take place Nov. 12–14 for community members to learn more about the study and provide input about the transit system. Community members also can participate by completing a survey. Learn more and take the survey.

Lois J. Geist has been named the new associate provost for faculty in the University of Iowa’s Office of the Provost. Geist previously served as associate dean of faculty affairs and development in the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and professor of internal medicine.

Angie Reams has been appointed the University of Iowa’s associate vice president and dean of students.

University of Iowa faculty, staff, and students have been named to a search committee for a new vice president for student life.

Former Iowa presidents Hunter Rawlings (1988–1995), Mary Sue Coleman (1995–2002), David Skorton (2003–2006), and Sally Mason (2007–2015) joined current president Bruce Harreld to share reflections on their time at the university and thoughts about what’s ahead for higher education.

The Ohio State University today named Melissa Shivers its new vice president for student life, effective Jan. 6, 2020.

The University of Iowa’s 2019 Homecoming festivities provided faculty, staff, students, and alumni with a lot to cheer about throughout the week, including a 26-20 victory over Purdue at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 19.

The portrait gallery of University of Iowa presidents is finally complete. Portraits of the three most recent UI leaders—Mary Sue Coleman, David Skorton, and Sally Mason—were unveiled Oct. 17. All 20 former presidents are now represented in the gallery on the fifth floor of the Main Library.
