UI Theatre Gallery Series opens 2014 with 'Monopoly'

The University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts will present a Gallery Production, "Monopoly," written by Sarah Cho and directed by Ashley Pettit, at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Jan. 30-Feb. 1, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, in Theatre B of the UI Theatre Building.
Old Capitol exhibit chronicles Iowan's historic sailing voyages

Iowa native David Thoreson will open his photographic exhibit at the UI's Old Capitol Museum during a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23. His exhibit, “The Northwest Passage and Oceans Beyond: An Iowan Sails into History,” will be on display Jan. 23 through May 25.

Tonya Peeples, UI professor of chemical and biochemical engineering, was appointed in 2013 as the College of Engineering's first associate dean for diversity and outreach. In that role, she is organizing the college's efforts to attract more women and minorities to engineering.

Visitors to the University of Iowa campus can now enjoy free guest wireless service without having to track down a guest ID to log in, courtesy of a partnership between Information Technology Services (ITS) and AT&T.

Producers of ABC-TV's "20/20" have decided that the story about NASA-funded University of Iowa pilot research will not air Friday, Jan. 17, on "20/20. However, the story may be scheduled to air at a future date on "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer."
