C. Vivian Stringer, owner of 929 career victories, is a Hall of Fame women's basketball coach at Rutgers University. Lisa Bluder, head coach at the University of Iowa, has 634 wins at three institutions and appears destined to follow Stringer into whatever halls of honor eventually come calling.

Mason City girl, 11, is Kid Captain when Hawkeyes take on Minnesota

Maree Scholl, of Mason City, was playing at the playground when a 17-foot bar fell off of a piece of playground equipment and hit her in the head. Doctors at her hometown hospital sent her to UI Children’s Hospital, where a team of specialists could determine the extent of her injuries.

The gym is filled with strong, tall, and athletic college volleyball players, who are nearing the end of another volleyball practice. A 5-year-old girl runs in with her father, carrying a ball of her own to practice with on the other side of the gym. She may not be as tall as her University of Iowa volleyball friends, but she is just as strong and mighty.

Nasenbenny joins elite company at NCAA forum

Katie Nasenbenny, a senior on the University of Iowa women’s soccer team, was one of 200 NCAA student-athletes across all divisions to attend the NCAA Career in Sports Forum this past summer. The event was held at the NCAA Headquarters in Indianapolis and is considered one of the most prominent, invitation-only events that a current NCAA student-athlete can attend.
