Students make use of new Kirkwood Regional Center at the UI

High school students studied criminology, worked on cars, and practiced machinery skills as community leaders celebrated the grand opening of the Kirkwood Regional Center at the UI Thursday. The center is a partnership between Kirkwood Community College, the UI , Grant Wood Area Education Agency, and several K-12 school districts.

Libraries' DIY crowdsourcing brings museum collection to life

The UI Museum of Natural History and the UI Libraries' DIY History collaborate to enlist public assistance in transcribing century-old, handwritten cards that describe birds’ eggs in the museum’s collections. Such digitization projects have the potential to spark research discoveries and raise public awareness about what museums and libraries offer.

UI makes list of 'Best Value' for colleges of education

The UI College of Education teacher preparation programs in elementary and secondary education made the “Best Value” colleges of education list in Iowa, according to the National Council on Teacher Quality.

One in 10 University of Iowa undergraduate students is Chinese and interest continues to grow. Part of this interest is fueled by Chinese President Xi Jingpin's long-standing relationship with the state of Iowa and Gov.
