UI student-designed bra for breast cancer patients receives cash prize

A team of biomedical engineers who designed a bra as University of Iowa students that helps breast cancer survivors with lymphedema won a $10,000 prize from Victoria’s Secret that will help them commercialize the garment.

Kevin Kregel has been appointed executive vice provost and senior associate provost for faculty at the University of Iowa. Kregel most recently served as associate provost for faculty, a position he held since September 2014. He began the new role July 15.

External funding reaches highest level in UI history

Grants and other funding that support University of Iowa research and scholarship reached an all-time high in FY19, bolstered in part by increased support from the Department of Defense and the National Science Foundation. Total external funding to the UI increased 6%, or $34.8 million, to an unprecedented $588.8 million.
