New study suggests exercise is good for the aging brain

University of Iowa researchers have found that a single bout of exercise benefits older people’s brains. In experiments in which participants aged 60 to 80 exercised once and multiple times, the researchers found some individuals showed improved cognitive functions and working memory.

UI receives $1.07M from EPA to improve water quality

The University of Iowa will receive a $1.07 million from the EPA Farmer to Farmer Cooperative Agreement to fund a project that improves water quality, habitat, and environmental education. UI will partner with farmers and urban consumers in Johnson and Iowa counties to demonstrate innovative nutrient and sediment reduction practices.

Global internships: UI students gain career experience around the world

While hundreds of University of Iowa students spent their summer completing internships in their chosen fields of interest, a group of about 60 students took their experiences to the next level by completing internships abroad—allowing them to gain global experience while strengthening their intercultural communication skills and building confidence.
