UI engineering senior Kindig named Gates Cambridge Scholar

Allison Kindig, a University of Iowa graduating senior from Cedar Rapids, has been awarded a 2015 Gates Cambridge Scholarship. Kindig, a Presidential Scholar and an active member of the UI’s Honors Program, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering as well as a minor in business administration and a certificate in global health studies.
Dance Marathon breaks fundraising record

University of Iowa Dance Marathon had another record-breaking year, raising $2,001,856.21. Over the past 21 years, the UI's largest student-run organization has raised $16,541,049.65 for patients treated at UI Children's Hospital.

UI Children's Hospital has a nationally acclaimed team of doctors and nurses who treat children with arrhythmias, host an annual conference for these patients and their families, and are leading participants in studies. Amanda Kurovski of Des Moines is one such young person who has benefited. She has an implantable cardioverter defibrillator to manage an arrhythmia, diagnosed when she was 15.
