It's worth it to call police, according to a University of Iowa study. The study found victims who report crimes to police are 22% less likely to be a victim again. The only exception was for victims of burglary, who saw no decline in the risk of being re-victimized.

Benjamin Revis, the UI's current professional scientific glassblower, custom designs and repairs equipment for researchers and artists alike. His shop is located in the Chemistry Building, but he performs work university wide.
James Alan McPherson, Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, dies at 72

James Alan McPherson, professor emeritus at the Iowa Writers' Workshop who was the first black writer to win the Pulitzer Prize for fiction, died on Wednesday in Iowa City. He was 72.
