UI helps high school students hatch new business ideas

A group of high school students in Pekin, Iowa, has started a rent-a-chicken business with help from a University of Iowa entrepreneurial education program that helps Iowa high school teachers encourage their students to use entrepreneurial principles to develop unique solutions to STEM problems.

UI’s Belin-Blank Center recognizes top Iowa high schools for Advanced Placement participation

The Belin-Blank Center in the University of Iowa College of Education recognizes Iowa high schools' Advanced Placement course achievements using the Iowa AP Index, which the center developed in 2005. According to the index, George Washington High School in Cedar Rapids is the top AP high school in Iowa.

Volunteers sought for state fair booth

The University of Iowa’s State Fair Working Group seeks volunteers for the UI booth at the State Fair Aug. 11–21 in Des Moines. Volunteers apply temporary tattoos; distribute football posters, athletic schedules, and other items; and share news about the great things happening on campus.

Children's hospital road show

UI students win $25K from Iowa Economic Development Authority for startup business

University of Iowa student Eric Pahl and recent graduate Dalton Shaull recently won $25,000 from the Iowa Economic Development Authority for their startup business, called Organizer. Shaull was motivated to start the project after watching his friend fight off a disease as he waited for a transplant.
