The University of Iowa is joining forces with two health-care organizations in a partnership to improve care for patients with liver disease.

Three University of Iowa College of Education leaders have received Better Futures for Iowans grants to support projects in dentistry, disability, and world language education. Through the outreach work of Saba Ali, Nicholas Colangelo, and James Stachowiak, Iowans benefit across the state.

Graduate students in the University of Iowa School of Urban and Regional Planning have received national recognition from the American Institute of Certified Planners for their groundbreaking sustainability project in the City of Dubuque.

Professor Jim Enloe and graduate fellow Teddy Marks from the University of Iowa Department of Anthropology will present “Middle and Late Stone Age in Arid Southern Africa: Excavations at Erb Tanks, Namibia” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in the Biosphere Discovery Hub of the UI Museum of Natural History.

In celebration of Black History Month, Old Capitol Museum is hosting a traveling exhibit from the African American Museum of Iowa as well as talks and educational programming. The exhibit, “Unconditional Loyalty: The Military Service of African Americans,” remains open until Sunday, March 3.

The UI Museum of Natural History continues the spring series Cuentos en el Museo (Spanish Storytime) at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in the Biosphere Discovery Hub. The museum also continues the spring series Storytime Adventures at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, in Mammal Hall. This month, Storytime Adventures explores the colorful world of zebras.

College is a common place for Cupid's arrow to strike, and the University of Iowa campus is no exception. According to Alumni Records, more than 45,000 UI graduates (out of some 252,000 living alumni) have a spouse who also has a UI degree.

The University of Iowa’s emphasis on student success promises to help power the state’s economy and keep its communities vital, said UI President Sally Mason in a presentation to the Iowa General Assembly’s Education Appropriations Subcommittee.

An increasing number of University of Iowa students are choosing to not only study abroad but also to work and volunteer overseas. The university is ranked 46th, among schools of its size, in the number of students graduating and joining the Peace Corps.

Kelly and Tammy Rundle of Fourth Wall Films, producers of the Emmy-nominated documentary "Country School: One Room-One Nation" and the award- winning "Lost Nation: The Ioway 1," will hold a world premiere of their new documentaries "Lost Nation: The Ioway 2 & 3" at the University of Iowa Museum of Natural History Saturday, Feb. 23.
