A university search committee has announced the second finalist for the next dean of the College of Engineering.

A University of Iowa-led study has found that a series of Southern California earthquakes last summer increased stress on the Garlock Fault, which has been dormant for at least a century. The results were published in the journal “Geophysical Research Letters.”

The University of Iowa search committee for the new dean of the College of Engineering has selected four final candidates. The candidates will visit campus from Oct. 29 to Nov. 12 to participate in public forums and meet with faculty, staff, and college leadership.

Next fall, the University of Iowa Office of the Provost will transition outreach and engagement programming to the colleges and departments. The decision follows a review of the Office of Outreach and Engagement last spring to gather information about current programming and determine the best way to encourage broader engagement.
