Career in insurance always a sure thing

Ali Rosenberg has known for years what she’s wanted to do for a career: risk management and insurance. “It’s in my blood,” she says. Indeed, she will be the fifth generation Rosenberg to work in the insurance business. The Des Moines native came to the University of Iowa in part because of its strong finance and insurance programs.

Tens of thousands of women major in business in the United States, and many of them belong to student groups for women business majors. But there’s no national organization linking them to each other. Ali Rosenberg thought it was a missed opportunity. She and fellow UI student Alex Krebs set out to organize a conference that would lay the foundation for such an organization.

UI College of Law announces Kinnick Law Scholars Program

South African theater collaboration comes to Iowa City

The University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts and Cape Town’s Artscape Theatre Center, in partnership with the UI International Writing Program, will present Book Wings South Africa, a unique collaborative theater initiative. This free production will be staged at noon Tuesday, March 10, in Theatre B at the UI Theatre Building.

More than 4,000 UI employees pledge to be healthier

Blue Zones Project Iowa City announces the University of Iowa has been named a Blue Zones Worksite with more than 4,000 employees taking the pledge to be healthy. The university will celebrate the designation from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.

The University of Iowa Libraries has been selected as the host site for the state of Iowa for First Folio! The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare, a national traveling exhibition of the Shakespeare First Folio, one of the world’s most treasured books. The tour will take place in 2016; specific touring dates will be announced in April.

Wells family establishes fund to provide scholarships for UI students from Van Buren County

The family of Wayne and Jean Wells has established a new scholarship fund for University of Iowa students from Van Buren County who are pursuing a business degree. The gift provides an endowed fund that will pay out scholarships annually in perpetuity, helping generations of Southeast Iowa students.

New Play Festival auditions set for March 7-8

The University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts will hold open auditions from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 7, and from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 8, for the Iowa New Play Festival 2015. Callbacks will be held between 6 and 11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, March 9-12.
