A study from the Tippie College of Business finds that the use of visiting clinicians can effectively increases access to orthopedic care in rural hospitals that can’t afford to have an orthopedist on staff.

A study by College of Public Health researcher Kelly Baker highlights the relationship between adverse birth outcomes and sanitation access, domestic water fetching, crime, and gender-based harassment. It finds that the more time a woman spends fetching water, the more likely she is to have a low birth weight baby.

Two scientists from the University of Iowa have been named 2018 American Association for the Advancement of Science fellows. Ann Budd, in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Madeline Shea, in the Department of Biochemistry, will be honored at the February 2019 AAAS meeting in Washington, D.C.

Students, faculty, and researchers across the Midwest and beyond will gain crucial access to large research datasets through a secure, cloud-based platform called Collaborative Archive & Data Research Environment. CADRE will be developed through a large-scale partnership that includes eight Big Ten universities, a federal funding agency, and private companies.
